At a distance of 1.5 km from Tallital Bus Stand, Nainital Lake is a natural freshwater lake, situated amidst the main town of Nainital. Nainital Lake is one of the prime places to visit in Nainital town. The lake is most commonly represented to promote Nainital Tourism.
According to the history, this lake was built in 1839 by P. Barron at an altitude of 2,000 m. This is one of the four lakes of Kumaon hills, the other three lakes are Sattal Lake, Bhimtal Lake and Naukuchiyatal Lake. Nainital Lake is lunar-shaped and has an outlet at the southeastern end. The lake covers a perimeter of 2 miles with a depth varies from 6 m to 28 m. Northern part of the lake is called as Mallital while southern part known as Tallital. Balia Nala is the main feeder-stream of the lake. Other than this, 26 major drains, including the three perennial ones, feed it. It is surrounded by panoramic hills on three sides.
According to a legend, three sages Atri, Pulastiya and Pulha had come here for pilgrimage; they felt thirsty and could not find any water. They dug a deep hole where the present lake stands and filled with water brought from Mansarovar Lake in Tibet. This lake is also mentioned in Skand Purana as Trishul Sarover.
This captivating lake is a major tourist spot in Nainital, the Nainital Boat Club provides boating and yachting facilities. The Annual Kingfisher Yachting Competition (Regatta) is held here in the third week of June. Both the pedal and rowing boats are available for tourists.

The Mall Road was constructed during the British colonial rule. This is the main commercial area which runs through the heart of the Nainital town. The Mall road is now named as Govind Ballabh Pant Marg. The road has a number of Hotels, Banks, Showrooms, Department Stores, Shops, Restaurants and Cafes. It is a cluster of many small shops offering varied products.
Visitors can enjoy their leisurely evening stroll on the Mall Road, with a cool refreshing breeze blowing across the lake on to the road adding to the charm of the Mall. During summers, this road becomes crowded with locals and tourists enjoying the evening weather.
The entry of vehicles is restricted on Mall Road at specific hours thus making it easier for the tourists and locals to explore the shops without getting hassled by the traffic, pollution & noise.
Entry of heavy traffic is prohibited during the months of May, June and October from 8 AM to 10.30 AM and 2.30 PM to 10.30 PM, light vehicles from 6 PM to 10 PM and cycle rickshaw from 6 PM to 9 PM.

Nestled at an altitude of about 2000 m, Himalayan Darshan is also known as Himalayan Viewpoint and is a beautiful tourist spot in Nainital. This viewpoint offers some spectacular views of several prominent Himalayan peaks along with surrounding lush green hills and valleys below. It is a very good place to spend some time in solitude amid the Mother Nature.

Jama Masjid was built in 1882 during British Era for their Muslim soldiers, serving in the military camps around Nainital. The stately building of Jama Masjid elucidating its beauty is a remarkable piece of architecture. This quintessential Islamic building is wearing a pristine white color with a tinge of black.
Known for its Islamic style of architecture, the mosque has dome, minarets and the interiors boast the carvings in Arabic. The most notable feature of Jama Masjid is the 'mihrab', a niche in the wall that indicates the direction of Mecca. One can also see the minaret or tower adjacent or attached to a mosque, from where the call to prayer is announced.
During Fridays and Eid al-Fitr, people of Islamic faith gather here in large numbers to offer prayers or 'salah' also known as namaz.

Lover's Point is famous for the scenic views it provides. The Lovers Point is genuinely romantic and extremely appreciated by couples in love. A small walk through the rocky road from the parking lot takes you to this point. The mesmerizing beauty of this place is liked and frequented by many tourists. One can avail horse from this point to upper points like Tiffin Top, Naina peak, etc. which are not accessible by vehicles.
Contiguous the cliff of Lovers Point there lies the Suicide Point, the awfulness of everything. Many people have jumped off from this point and committed suicide and that is how this point got such a controversial name. The view from the suicide point is no less exciting than the one from Lover's Point.

Maintained by the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam, Eco Cave Garden is a newly developed tourist spot in Nainital. This natural park is a collection of interconnected rocky caves and hanging gardens which offers the glimpse of Himalayan wildlife through different caves. It has a total of six caves namely Squirrel Cave, Bat Cave, Panther Cave, Ape Cave, Tiger Cave and Flying Fox Cave. The caves here are of different dimensions narrowing down further into the tunnels which give it a natural look.
It is the epitome of the wild jungle and hills of Nainital. Mainly suited for children, this place will be enjoyed by the whole family. Kids like these informative caves as all the caves are adventurous and filled with fun. These caves are lighted with petroleum lamps. A musical fountain is also present in Eco Cave Gardens but it remains operational only in peak season time.
